In mid 2012, HIMTRI (Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Industri) at BINUS University became the major force in getting the first university IIE chapter in Indonesia up and running. On top of that, in early 2013, IIE BINUS becomes the first IIE Chapter in South East Asia obtained the highest award for a chapter, Gold Award.  In September 2013 Industrial Engineer magazine posted IIE BINUS as one of the story to be brought up in updates from IIE chapters around the world.
