Student Exchange Testimonials: Exchange to Han University, Netherlands

Studying abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will never forget. I couldn’t be more grateful for this unique opportunity to learn and grow in such a multicultural and stimulating environment in The Netherlands. I increased my confidence, gained independence, became more understanding of different cultures and lifestyles and learnt to love experiencing new things. I surely have experienced some cultural differences, for example, Dutch people are very direct in saying what they think and Indonesians are more timid. It could be that Indonesians considered that as impolite.
I feel lucky to have the opportunity to be in a pandemic situation when I’m not in Indonesia. Of course not in a bad way, but in a good way. Besides learning about lectures in both universities, I also learned how Dutch people responded to the outbreak and how they followed and obeyed the rules that the government had made. And it is proven that everyday things were getting better!
I think it is far more beneficial to really push your comforts, and try immersing yourself in a culture that you are completely unfamiliar with. All in all, my exchange was an experience I will treasure forever.
