Green Synthesis Fuel (GSF): A Green Revolution in the Fuel Industry
By Alexandra Catherine
Currently, Indonesia’s industry is undergoing a transformation toward a green revolution, promoting the development of renewable energy as a solution to the depleting fossil fuel crisis. One rapidly growing innovation is Green Synthesis Fuel (GSF), an environmentally friendly synthetic fuel that utilizes seawater as its main raw material with the assistance of Plasmasysis technology. This technology works by separating water and carbon dioxide molecules through high-energy plasma, which is then converted into synthetic fuel. This process not only reduces dependence on fossil fuels but also contributes to lowering harmful carbon emissions.
Indonesia is also participating in the development of this green fuel by introducing GSF production units designed in a structured manner to enhance efficiency and production flexibility. According to the CEO of PT Teknologi Alam Semesta, Eden Napitupulu, “The GSF Plant unit is designed to be modular, with a fuel production capacity capable of supplying a 5,000 KW power plant.” This highlights Indonesia’s significant potential in creating more sustainable energy sources while reducing reliance on fossil-based energy.
In addition to its benefits as an alternative fuel for electricity generation, GSF also directly contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The use of renewable energy supports SDG 7, which focuses on affordable and clean energy, by providing an environmentally friendly and more efficient fuel source. Furthermore, GSF plays a role in achieving SDG 9, which relates to innovation and infrastructure, through the development of new technologies in the energy sector. Moreover, the implementation of GSF contributes to SDG 13, which addresses climate action, by reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition toward cleaner energy. With these advancements, Indonesia has a great opportunity to become a key player in the green fuel industry and strengthen its position in the global transition toward sustainable energy.
