HIS Exhibition 2026: BINUS Industrial Engineering Students Showcase Ergonomic Innovations for Everyday Activities
Jakarta, July 7, 2026 The Industrial Engineering Laboratory at BINUS University, in collaboration with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Chapter #716, successfully hosted the Human-Integrated Systems (HIS) Exhibition 2026 on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Atrium Plaza, 2nd Floor, BINUS Anggrek Campus.

Now in its third year, the HIS Exhibition once again serves as a platform for second-semester students in the Industrial Engineering program at BINUS University to showcase the results of their final projects for the Human-Integrated Systems (HIS) course. This event is not only an exhibition of student work but also a space to develop creativity, innovation, and the ability to apply ergonomics through solutions tailored to human needs.

With the theme “Ergonomic Innovation: Enhancing Daily Activities with Comfort and Functionality,” this exhibition served as a platform for students to present their innovative projects focused on the application of ergonomic principles, sustainability, and solutions applicable to everyday life. A total of 37 student groups showcased various innovative products developed over the course of one semester.
Through this exhibition, students had the opportunity to present the final results of their projects to faculty members, fellow students, and the general public. The various works on display demonstrated how the field of Industrial Engineering particularly Human-Integrated Systems can be applied to produce innovative, functional solutions centered on human needs.
The event began with opening remarks from the HIS Laboratory Coordinator, Michael Patrick Rustandie, followed by a speech from Giffari Andrian, President of the IISE BINUS Student Chapter #716 and Chair of the HIS Exhibition 2026 Organizing Committee.
The Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at BINUS University, Dr. Ir. Rienna Oktarina, S.T., M.T., CSCA, then delivered opening remarks and officially opened the HIS Exhibition 2026. In her remarks, Dr. Rienna Oktarina expressed her hope that this event would serve as a platform for students to continue developing their creativity and innovative thinking skills. Students are also expected to be able to apply the knowledge they have gained during their studies to produce solutions that provide tangible benefits to society.

To provide a comprehensive evaluation of the students’ work, the HIS Exhibition 2026 featured four judges representing academia, industry, professional organizations, and the Industrial Engineering Laboratory at BINUS University.
The panel of judges consisted of Assoc. Prof. Lina Gozali, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tarumanagara University, as the academic judge; Aloysius Baskoro Junianto, S.Sn., M.I.D., a Product Designer, as the practitioner judge; Venda Patricia Djunaedi as a judge and representative of IISE; and Bangkit Pramesta Yulianto as a judge and representative of the BINUS University Industrial Engineering Laboratory.
Each product was evaluated based on several aspects, including the level of innovation, the application of ergonomic principles, the product’s usefulness, sustainability, design quality, and the students’ ability to present and explain the concept and product development process.



In addition to serving as a showcase for student projects, the HIS Exhibition 2026 also featured a competition among groups vying for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with a total prize pool of Rp. 3,000,000.
Following the judging process, three groups were awarded prizes for the best innovations at the HIS Exhibition 2026.
First Place was awarded to HIS03 for their product CutNScale, developed by Amelia Kurniawati, Darren Rizky Pratama, and Rizky Yudi Saputra.
Second Place was awarded to HIS06 for their product UPROOTER, created by Diego Christian Ferdinand Ngedomoi, Kenneth Henderson Harnardi, Rafael Delano Putra Kuntoro, and Wiyartajaya Simin.
Meanwhile, third place went to HIS04 for their product “Lint Roller,” developed by Arjya Hiranya Medha Agradigdesantara, David Alexander, Genesius Constantine Joaquin Sianturi, and Kiara Rahma Putri Andari.


The HIS course is taught by a team of faculty members consisting of Dr. Ir. Hwi-Chie Ho, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng.; Amir Tjolleng, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Rizka Britania, S.T., M.T.; and Muhammad Kevin Pradana, S.T., M.T.
Through the HIS course, students are encouraged to understand the importance of a human-centered design approach in product and system development. This approach prioritizes human needs, capabilities, comfort, and limitations as integral parts of the design process.
Throughout the event, the HIS Exhibition 2026 received a high level of enthusiasm from faculty members, students, and various guests in attendance. Visitors had the opportunity to witness product demonstrations firsthand and discuss with students the process of problem identification, product design, the application of ergonomic concepts, and the potential for implementing these innovations in daily life.
Interactions between participants, judges, and visitors also provided students with a more tangible learning experience. Through presentations and discussions, students had the opportunity to communicate their ideas, receive feedback, and evaluate the product development they had undertaken.

Through the HIS Exhibition 2026, the Industrial Engineering Laboratory at BINUS University hopes this event will continue to serve as a platform for students to develop innovation, critical thinking skills, creativity, and collaboration in generating solutions centered on human needs.
This event is also part of an effort to strengthen a culture of innovation and project-based learning within the Industrial Engineering program at BINUS University. With this experience, students are expected to be better prepared to face industry challenges, develop solutions based on a human-centered approach, and make positive contributions to society.
