As part of its student development activities, the Industrial Engineering Student Association (HIMTRI) of BINUS University conducted a comparative study with the Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Industri (HMPSTI) Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) on August 18, 2026. The activity provided an opportunity for both Industrial Engineering student organizations to exchange knowledge, share organizational experiences, and gain new perspectives on organizational development.

The comparative study was attended by 37 HIMTRI BINUS University committee members and approximately 23 HMPSTI UNPAR committee members. The activity began with an introduction to each organization, allowing both HIMTRI BINUS University and HMPSTI UNPAR to share information regarding their respective organizational structures, programs, and activities.

Through these introductions, participants gained a better understanding of how Industrial Engineering student organizations operate in different university environments. The exchange also provided an opportunity for participants to identify similarities and differences in the way each organization manages its activities and develops its members.

The activity continued with an open discussion and exchange of ideas between the two organizations. Participants shared their experiences, challenges, and approaches in managing organizational activities. This discussion encouraged participants to view organizational issues from different perspectives while gaining insights that could potentially be applied to their respective organizations.

The discussion served not only as a platform for knowledge sharing but also as an opportunity to develop critical thinking and collaborative skills. By comparing organizational practices and discussing different approaches, participants were encouraged to reflect on their existing practices and consider new perspectives for future organizational development.

The event was attended by Ir. Dedy Suryadi, Ph.D., Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, and Ir. Alfian Tan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., lecturer and academic companion from the Industrial Engineering program at UNPAR. Representing BINUS University, the activity was accompanied by Dr. Rida Zuraida, S.T., M.T., lecturer from the Industrial Engineering Department of BINUS University. The activity was led by Nicholas Effram Bernardi, who served as the Project Manager of the Comparative Study from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan. The overall Industrial Benchmarking activities were coordinated by Dante Kareem Mohamad as Project Manager.

The comparative study provided a meaningful opportunity for both organizations to strengthen their relationship while exchanging knowledge and organizational experiences. More than simply introducing each organization, the activity encouraged participants to learn from one another, broaden their perspectives, and develop stronger connections within the Industrial Engineering student community.

Through this experience, HIMTRI BINUS University and HMPSTI UNPAR were able to establish a positive foundation for continued communication and potential collaboration in the future.
