INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER – VOLUME 46 NUMBER 7
Since I work for a company that specializes in architecture, the word “designer” has a different connotation for me. At an architecture company, the word “designer” means someone who designs the exterior of a building. It also refers to the interior designer who designs the inside of a building. Yet, there are other types of architects who specialize in functions such as planning, space programming and other aspects of design.
I would consider any industrial engineer a designer and I do a lot of design. I design processes while the staff performing the work. I design them specifically including the performers and other essentials.
One of many design’s goal, is experience. Not only process, I also design layouts cooperating with the staff. The performance level of staff is also determined by how ergonomics work areas affect them. This will lead to efficiency and productivity level.
Design is more than just a beautiful architecture, it includes all of the detail of how people use it and how they work in it.
